Södertörns Radio Amateurs is a club for those of all ages who are interested in radio technology. The club strives for information sharing, pleasant company and radio-related activities across all walks of life. We do this by means of regular club meetings, courses, study visits and trips, field-days, radio contests and other activities such as radio events on museum ships and lighthouses.

Our call-sign is SKØQO and we have our own repeater system. Our weekly news bulletin is sent through the repeater on RV55/R3x and RU380/RU6 every Sunday evening at 20.30 local time.

We devote a lot of effort to the training of radio amateurs, in co-operation with ABF which is one of Sweden’s largest educational associations. Our club house is at Kvarnbäcksskolan in Jordbro where we have access to well-suited accommodation for club meetings and courses. Courses leading to an amateur radio license are usually held in both spring and autumn.

SödRa, which is the club’s short name, is centred on Jordbro in Haninge municipality. Haninge which is one of Sweden’s largest archipelago municipalities, lies 20 kilometres south of Stockholm and is easily accessible both by public transport, and by car, using the Stockholm to Nynäshamn motorway.

The club distributes a members’ newsletter twice a year in January and August with details of coming activities and with accounts in both words and pictures of past events.

The club meets every Wednesday at Kvarnbäcksskolan, with the exception of the summer months June, July and August. On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, there is usually a lecture or demonstation of a radio-related topic. Other meetings are more informal with a chance to meet other members or to use the club’s radio station. Coffee, tea and snacks are available for a small charge.

It’s easy to become a member of SödRa. Just fill in the form for membership and you will join the company of the other 350 members, including 45 lady members. Most of our members are from the Stockholm area, but we have members from all of Sweden’s amateur radio districts.

Welcome aboard!
